Anne Quinly is no stranger to the classroom. Before becoming a substitute teacher with MHED, Anne taught in Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools for 30 years.

“I taught one year in a Catholic school in Kansas City, Missouri while finishing my masters in behavior disorder/emotionally disturbed from the University of Missouri – Kansas City,” she said. “Once I received my masters, I got a call from HR in Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools and was offered a job. I taught the behavior disorder/emotionally disturbed kids in middle schools in KCKPS for 30 years.”

Since retiring and joining MHED, Anne has enjoyed substitute teaching.

“What I like most about being a substitute teacher is working with students who are kind, honest, and loving,” she said. “They enjoy school and the different activities provided for them. They are excited to participate and give their all.”

Her favorite grade level to teach used to be middle school until she started substitute teaching. Now she really enjoys teaching in elementary schools, with preschool and head start programs in the Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools being her favorite.

In her spare time, Anne likes to garden and spend time with her friends and family.

“I am married to a gentle soul, Mark. I have three sisters and three brothers. I am a true middle child. I have 7 nieces and nephews and 5 great nieces and great-nephews. We spend a lot of quality time together all year long.”

Ann is a fabulous substitute teacher who gets a lot of positive feedback from teachers and just wants to do what is best for the students. MHED wants to thank Anne for being willing to step in and fill an unexpected vacancy. Ann does not normally take long-term positions, but due to the circumstances, she was willing and very flexible until a full-time teacher is hired. You rock!
