Brian Anderson joined the MHED team in 2016 after retiring from 41 years of teaching and coaching. Brian taught in a variety of classrooms, ranging from middle school to high school. His passion for teaching math makes Brian a highly requested substitute teacher in the Lawrence Public School District where he taught for 29 years.

As a substitute teacher, Brian’s passion for teaching continues.

“I’ll try to keep the education process going with as little loss of classroom time as possible. It is much easier for me to substitute in my certified areas of math and physical education. However, I will always try to follow the teachers plans as closely as possible.”

Brian ultimately prefers to substitute teach in secondary educational settings but is more than willing to help wherever he is needed, even if that means teaching a subject or grade level that he is unfamiliar with.

When Brian isn’t substitute teaching, he is busy helping with the Kansas State Cross Country Championships, a sport that he coached for many years. Brian and his wife currently reside in Lawrence where they have built a brand new, beautiful home in which they hope to move in soon.

MHED and Lawrence Public Schools USD 497 would like to thank Brian for the efforts he puts forth as a substitute teacher to continue to foster the educational process.
